Double yoked egg
Hello Everyone
I hope you're wondering why the title of this post is called double yoked egg. I have to be honest, the premise is coming from lessons learned from my very own back yard.
Recently our family received a gift of five chickens. Maybe you're thinking thats not a gift you would want, however it was something we were long waiting for, and as a result we were praising God for the gift he had given us. We waited anxiously for these chickens to begin to lay eggs. When the first chicken laid eggs, you would have thought it was christmas in a five year olds house.
After a while we realized that one of the chickens lays double yoked eggs. Being unsure of how this happened I started to do some research on this topic. It turns out that double yoked eggs are a delicacy, and that true egg farmers (not us) seek these based upon the weight of the egg. GO FIGURE
Well a hen who is laying a double yokes egg actually lays this eggs as a result of her unfertilized egg (ovum) falling to soon. (Stay with me). Typically a hen lays an egg with an unfertilized egg and then the chicken farmer picks it up and sells it. Every yoke is a hens egg that didn't become a baby chick (when I say egg I mean egg as in a females fertile part). When two yokes appear it means that two eggs dropped (one before it was suppose to) and made it into one chicken egg. So she ovulated two eggs when she was only suppose to ovulate one.
For my chickens, this particular hen only lays one egg every 3-4 days as opposed to every day like my other ones.
As Im washing my eggs one morning, I felt in my spirit this message:
This is what happens so many times with all of you. I have already set my plans in place for you and you get ahead of me and therefore hatch 2 yokes when I only meant for you to hatch one. Somehow you wrap it up into a delicacy when that was never my plan. You might think its makes my will move faster but it actually slows down my progress.
This was so powerful to me. First I thanked God for teaching me, through his creation, how he wants to guide my life. I don't need to interfere in what God wants to do, because while I think I am actually moving his will forward, I am actually taking 3-4 times as long to allow his spirit to move like He wants to move. God doesn't need my help. I don't have to go ahead of Him.
Today I encourage you not to be a double yoked chicken. Don't jump in front of what God wants for your life. So many times we are burdened in our minds on doing Gods will that we actually stifle His will.
I am going to leave you with Ecclesiastes 5:2 where Solomon tells us "God is in heaven and you are here on earth, so let your words be few." Here Solomon was talking about how we approach God, but I think this can be applicable to every are of our lives. God is in heaven and you are here on earth. Why would you think that God needs your help. Our only desire should be to be completely submissive and wait on God.
Don't get two yokes and think its a delicacy, remember the cholesterol is in the yoke!
Have a blessed day
